Dear Valued Readers,
Today Gold broke through recent highs and is sitting above $1600 US/oz! I'm going to show you the [ Weekly Chart ] so we can see some history (it is a big graphic, be sure to scroll). Back in September of 2011 Gold hit an intra-day high of $1920.70 according to my fx platform. After that happened there was a triple top in the $1790 range. I'm going to use that as a my 2020 target. It may bounce a round, but longer term that is the next heavy resistance point. If it breaks that point, the next big resistance will be the all time high $1920.70!
Gold loves uncertainty in the world. Everyone is of course talking about the Coronavirus. The New York Times is reporting 150 Million Chinese are under coronavirus lockdown. The [CNBC live blog] states total confirmed cases at 73,400 and total deaths at least 1,874. This is affecting some companies, including Apple, because they have manufacturing in China. Apple has stated that they do not expect to meet its quarterly revenue forecast.
Another major event this year is the U.S. Federal election. Will the Democrats choose a candidate that can beat Trump? So far the top two are Bernie Sanders with 21 Delegates and Pete Buttigieg with 22 delegates. There is a long way to go though.
The Dow continues to roll. A new high of 29,568.57 was hit this month. Yesterday we closed at 29,232.19 down 165.89. It is hard to determine how wide spread the affect of Coronavirus will have on companies depending on Chinese goods and manufacturing. Interactive chart of the DJ Industrial [ here ].
Our featured [infographic] is the periodic table of commodity returns. Where does gold stack up against oil and others? Have a look at the last ten years.
The $50US/barrel Oil level seems to be holding for now.If it breaks we may see $43 again.
My speculative stock watch list opinions are near the bottom. I would love to hear what your favorite speculative stock pick is for 2020. Reply to the newsletter and let us know!

Auryn Resources ( AUG TSX-Venture ) [ Auryn Web Site ]
[ I own some of it, I do not work for them. ]
Current Price: $1.86CA up .16 from our last newsletter.
You must think I'm sounding like a broken record. Auryn, Auryn, Auryn..... Well when you are a speculator, you lose on a few, you break even on a couple and there is always one or two home runs (if you are a good speculator). Auryn Resources has the management team and projects to be that one.
Auryn is trending higher and since we last wrote they have had a couple announcements.
February 6th: Auryn Resources closes a $10.1M private placement.
February 10th: Auryn Secures DIA for Initial Drill Program at Sombrero Copper-Gold Project in Southern Peru. From the news:
"A Message from Ivan Bebek, Executive Chairman & Director:
"We are very pleased to have received our DIA less than seven months from the start of our application. I would like to thank our permitting team and the various Peruvian agencies involved for their contributions.
"We view the Sombrero district as a tier-1 exploration opportunity due to its size, the strength of mineralization on surface and the positive historical drilling results at the Fierrazo target. We have demonstrated that Sombrero is the western extension of the Andahuaylas-Yauri belt, and we believe that we may discover multiple world-class deposits within our land package. This initial program will test the first of four significant mineralized intrusive centers identified by our technical team to-date, as we continue exploring the additional intrusive centers in the coming months."
