Spot Gold [XAU/USD] is currently at $1553 usd/oz. Up about $80 us/oz since we last wrote, but it also spiked to $1611 on January 8th when the Iran-U.S. tensions were escalating. After the spike over $1600, it fell off pushing through the $1557 support and bounced off $1536 which was the support created by the highs from September 25th, 2019. Trump impeachment drama, U.S.-Iran tensions along with a plane being shot down in Iran, there is no lack of turmoil and uncertainty in the world. Uncertainty helps drive higher gold prices.

Auryn Resources ( AUG TSX-Venture ) [ Auryn Web Site ]
[ I own some of it, I do not work for them. ]
Current Price: $1.70CA
In my opinion Auryn is being discounted because of lack of news. Getting drill permits in some countries is not an easy process. I'm hoping in the next few weeks we have some news about the Sombrero permits being issued and then the company can start some drilling. Auryn will have plenty of news this year with the drilling of Sombrero and Curibaya.
Auryn is searching for "Elephant" type deposits. Ivan has mentioned many times, in his presentations, the rock similarities of Sombrero with the "Las Bambas copper project" which is also in Peru. From the [ Mining-Technology.com website ]:
"Xstrata obtained the right to explore and the option to develop Las Bambas, in a bidding conducted by Peru’s investment promotion agency ProInversión in August 2004. The MMG-GUOXIN-CITIC Metal joint venture acquired the mine for $7bn in August 2014."
"As of June 2016, the Las Bambas mine was estimated to contain proven and probable ore reserves of 1,086Mt grading 0.71% Cu, 201ppm Mo, 3.5g / t Ag, and 0.06g / t Au.
It is estimated to contain 7.71Mt of copper, 205,000t of molybdenum, 119Moz of silver, and 2Moz of gold."
From Auryn's web site:
SombreroOverview & Highlights
The Sombrero copper-gold property is comprised of approximately
The property is hosted in the Andahuaylas-Yauri belt and is Sombrero Project Highlights:
Now the stock market is not the same as it was in 1996 but Barrick Gold bought Arquipa Resources for $790 Million US for their Pierina discovery in Peru. The Las Bambas mine was acquired for $7 Billion in 2014. Peru hosts a lot of mines and Auryn is hoping to find the next one. With Auryn having having two projects in Peru that look very promising, and a very large land position, I'm hoping for a very exciting year of drilling!
